The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, GA seeks candidates for the position of Transit Director.  The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the Unified Government's transit system and oversee operations, maintenance and administration. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  directing and supervising the overall personnel, planning, administration, operation, contracts, projects, and budget of the transit department and perform additional tasks as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Athens-Clarke County Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt - Executive
CLASSIFICATION: Regular Non-Merit; Serves at the discretion of the Athens-Clarke County Manager 
PAY GRADE: 132; $103,820.00 - $123,674.00 Annually DOQ
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes - CDL - Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the Unified Government's transit system and oversee operations, maintenance and administration. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  directing and supervising the overall personnel, planning, administration, operation, contracts, projects, and budget of the transit department and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Emergency Position
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Bachelor's degree in transportation or public administration or related field;

Five years of public transit operations or public administration experience required;

Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Four years of supervisory experience is required.

Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License.
