Butts County is seeking a Parks and Recreation Director.

Butts County Parks and Recreation Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Butts County Recreation activities to include all programs, and park maintenance. Specific functions include planning goals; developing, coordinating, and managing the department budget; managing and directing subordinates; procuring and managing grants and donations; creating and implementing internal departmental policy and ensuring that policy is aligned with County policy and ensuring that facilities and equipment is properly maintained and monitored.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Directly supervises, directs, and evaluates subordinate management staff and other subordinate personnel within the Department.

Coordinates, trains, and evaluates the work of personnel.

 

Develops department goals, objectives, and policies including long-term capital and programmatic planning.

 

Coordinates facility maintenance projects and day-to-day activities including maintenance of buildings, grounds, and athletic fields; conducts inspections.

 

Oversees implementation of capital improvement projects from start to finish including project scope of work, vendors and contract agreements, and budget monitoring.

 

Develops and oversees department budget; manages purchases, oversees revenue collection; implements revenue collection improvement processes including technology upgrades.

 

Manages community outreach and marketing activities including updating the website and social media sites, conducting community educational meetings, and facilitating media outreach.

 

Oversees department schedule of special events and programs and event registration processes.

Coordinates and facilitates relationships with local civic groups and community organizations and neighboring county programs.

 

Ensures programmatic compliance with all safety requirements.

 

Minimum Training and Experience:

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, or a combination of education, experience and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position.

Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.

 

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
