JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Court Bailiff 

The City of McDonough is accepting applications for a Bailiff in the City’s Court Department. Primary responsibilities include court security by protecting the judge and court personnel, controlling inmates, and providing physical security for the court. 

Major duties: Security of the court, conducting search of courtroom(s) before court for weapons and contraband, inspect packages and persons coming into the courtroom, announcement of the opening and closing of Municipal Court, summoning officers and witnesses to testify, providing assistance during any emergency and maintaining custody of and escort/transfer prisoner(s). 

Qualifications: must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. P.O.S.T certification; Taser certified or ability to become Taser certified; some court experience helpful; valid Georgia Driver’s License; clean MVR; pass post-offer of employment physical; satisfactory criminal history; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Starting Salary: $18.29 per hour
