POSITION SUMMARY     

Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator. The Site Supervisor is responsible for coordinating staff schedules, activities, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include the overall management of camp operations, facilitating, planning, and coordinating of the education programs and activities. The Site Supervisor will be overseeing the activity areas including indoor and outdoor games, sports, swimming, fitness activities, arts and crafts, on-site enrichment programs, and field trips, as well as group lunches and snack time.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Training, supervising, motivating, and evaluating staff of camp counselors; reviewing progress and directing changes as needed.
  • Overseeing Summer Food Service Program, ensuring documentation is correctly filled out and organized daily.
  • Organizing staff workloads, work schedules, and assignments.
  • Keeping track of camp inventory; maintaining organization of supplies.
  • Following and enforcing all policies outlined in the camp training and city personnel manuals.
  • Handling discipline issues and emergencies.
  • Rendering first aid in cases of minor injuries.
  • Maintaining and monitoring accurate records and forms such as employee timesheets, attendance (sign-in and sign-out sheets), behavioral incidents, accident reports, parental communication, and medical issues.
  • Performing daily inspections of the camps concerning safety and cleanliness.
  • Performing miscellaneous tasks as directed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of one (1) year of experience volunteering, teaching, leading, or instructing children in an organized recreational or a childcare setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Also, supervisory experience in a children’s setting.  

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Must have a valid and current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid upon date of hire.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must conform to grooming and dress codes
  • Work requires the ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals, including but not limited to: household cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying environmental conditions, including heat, humidity, and biting insects/invertebrates.

 

May work an adjusted schedule for assisting in events occurring after 5:00 p.m. such as meetings, or planned events.
