Key Responsibilities:

Challenge Yourself: Review and shepherd complex land use applications and development proposals, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Strategic Planning: Manage short and long-range planning, targeted area plans, and assist with drafting amendments to the City's Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan.

Innovative Solutions: Initiate and manage the Rezoning, Special Use Permit, and Variance application process, and provide research and review for Building Permits, Land Disturbance Permits, Final Plats, and other various permits. The incumbent will be looked upon as the primary source to perform research of legislation and ordinances that will improve the overall quality and performance of the department and City at large.

Effective Communication: Present findings and recommendations through compelling graphics, reports, and presentations to diverse audiences and respond to inquiries and counsel staff and customers on issues and questions related to planning, zoning, housing, transportation, growth management, and other complex land use and community planning matters.

Community Engagement: Attend community, advisory, commission, and Council meetings to understand community interests and provide your expert analysis based on research of City codes and the Comprehensive Plan.

 

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in City Planning, Public Administration, or related field.

Four (4) years of professional planning and zoning experience.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in City Planning, City Administration, or related field.

AICP Certification preferred.
