2024 SHOULDER WIDENING PROJECT

This is an invitation to submit a bid to Lamar County for the 2024 SHOULDER WIDENING PROJECT (including Johnstonville Road Shoulder Widening and Van Buren Road Shoulder Widening) as indicated herein.  Sealed bids will be received at the office of the Chairman (in Lamar County Administration Building at the above address) up to 2:00 p.m., April 4, 2024 at which time they will be opened and publicly read.

 

This project will be funded with 2024 LMIG and SPLOST funds.  Construction includes Shoulder Widening on Johnstonville Road (6.95 mi) and Van Buren Road (5.85 mi) within Lamar County. The work will include 5,490 tons of asphalt shoulder paving (Johnstonville Road) and 4,620 tons of asphalt shoulder paving and 15 tons of spot leveling (Van Buren Road) and edge line paint striping. All work shall conform to the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) Standard Specifications Construction of Transportation Systems, Current Edition; GDOT’s Supplemental Specifications Construction of Transportation Systems, Current Edition; and all applicable GDOT Standards and Details; and other contract requirements, specifications and general conditions.

 

Bid Documents may be obtained at the County Office Location by appointment. Proposers are encouraged to request Bid Documents via email.  All proposers requesting plans and bid documents will be emailed bid documents and/or granted access to the Engineer’s FTP site containing digital copies of plans, specifications, and addenda.  No documents will be mailed.  Request for Bid Documents and any questions regarding the project or to schedule an appointment to pick-up plans at the County’s office should be emailed simultaneously to Eugene.Hopkins@exp.com, Ritchie.Swindell@exp.com, and stownsend@lamarcountyga.com (Questions must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22nd, 2024).    Responses will be posted to the FTP site as an Addendum.  Additional addendums may be issued during the proposal period.  All proposers are responsible to check the Engineer’s FTP site for addendums.

 

Instructions for preparation and submission of a bid-proposal are contained in this packet.  Bids must be typed or printed in ink.  Bids submitted as a result of this invitation must include the "Bid Sheet" and bids on both options to be considered along with all required documents and be returned in a sealed envelope or container marked, "SEALED BID for 2024 Shoulder Widening Project" on the outside.  Bids may not be considered unless so received.  

 

Any questions and /or misunderstandings that may arise from this invitation shall be submitted in writing at least 10 days prior to the bid opening.  The County will not respond to any questions received within 72 hours prior to the bid opening. Answers to questions submitted that materially change the conditions and specifications of this invitation for bid will be promulgated to all addressees as an addendum.  Any discussions or documents will be considered non-binding unless incorporated and promulgated in an addendum.
