Information Technology Manager

 The Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission is seeking an Information Technology Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Technical Department. The Information Technology Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our Technical Department and will be working closely with our leadership and other departments. Reports to the Executive Director.

JOB SUMMARY – The Information Technology Manager will provide all tactical management, coordination, and support of the Information Technology department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of increasingly diverse or complex applications in field of expertise
  • 4+ years of management experience leading high performance information technology teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office technologies, including Microsoft Office suite (Office365, Teams, etc.), Microsoft Operating Systems, GIS, and Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Strong ability to communicate and express complex ideas in terms others can easily understand. Maintain calmness and clarity of thought under pressure and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading a team where customer experience and sense of hospitality is priority. Advanced interpersonal skills to engage with peers, customers, colleagues, and leadership to achieve excellent partnership and results.
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, AWS Cloud Computing Services.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/BA or higher in a technical or business field is required.
  • Masters in technical or business field preferred

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and enhances IT Infrastructure framework policies and procedures (including incident, problem, and change management) to ensure standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt management of services.
  • Oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, documentation and support of high quality, reliable IT systems, networks, and end-user support services. Establishes efficiency standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure through reporting metrics.
  • Reviews and presents project proposals to determine goals, timeline, budget, and procedures. Develops comprehensive project plans, specifying strategy, staffing, toolsets, identification of
  • Monitors and builds team’s capacity to handle current and forecasted workload including development of existing staff and hiring of additional staff.   • Requires the ability to resolve unique issues related to staff management, client satisfaction, or business processes. Anticipates problems and determines solutions that integrate overall business strategies.
  • Approves project scope changes.
  • Creates and manages the department budget and resources.

Client Relationship Skills

  • Is either independently responsible for or collaborates (both with subordinates and management from other departments) in maintaining overall relationships with clients.
  • Includes supervising projects to ensure that the standards are met with respect to quality and timelines of products/services provided.
