JOB SUMMARY

This is a seasonal position.  Supervises and implements the day camp program for children 5 – 12 years old.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the implementation of day camp activities throughout the duration of the day camp program including arts & crafts, inside & outside games, field trips and any other activities related to day camp
  • Handle complaints from youth, parents and the public
  • Encourage/enforce proper conduct of participants
  • Make innovative suggestions for programs, problems and inefficiencies
  • Adhere to all housekeeping and safety standards and see that these standards are not violated by participants
  • Assume other responsibilities within the scope of the position as assigned by the Camp Coordinator/Program Coordinator

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

Must be 16 years old at the beginning of the season (Memorial Day).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work with children of all ages
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public
  • Ability to have neat appearance
  • Willingness to relate to children of all ages on their level in a positive manner
  • Willingness to take directors from supervisor

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

Position requires certification in CPR, and First Aid (city sponsored.)  A valid Georgia Driver’s License is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium work and requires crouching, hearing, lifting, speaking, talking, visual acuity and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT         

Incumbent works in both in indoor and outdoor environment during summer months. Exposed to outside noises.
