JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for disseminating information to the public through a variety of media, for managing the county website, and for performing public relations duties on behalf of the Board of Commissioners and County Manager. Manages and updates the county website; solicits information from county departments to ensure an accurate portrayal of county operations, policies, and programs. Promotes County accomplishments. Develops and updates county media/social media market plan. Implements plan and provides updates as needed. Manages Emergency Alert System. Coordinates with EMA to increase community participation in signing up for emergency alerts. Provides ongoing updates during natural disasters, road closures, water line disruptions and as otherwise needed. Develops original programs and presentations for the Board of Commissioners and County Manager for delivery to the public, other government agencies, and/or county departments and personnel. Serves as Public Information Officer for the Board of Commissioners and County Manager; communicates through print and audio/visual media; develops original narratives for stories in magazines and newspapers. Streams live meetings for Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission meetings. Records and edits meetings for public consumption. Provides Zoom assistance for meetings. Serves as point of contact for movie/television productions including Georgia Film Office. Provides technical assistance for meetings. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
