The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for an Accounting Coordinator in the Finance Department. This position is responsible for a variety of bookkeeping and accounting support duties for the finance department. This position is also responsible for preparing and processing payroll. Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer and the Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

 

Major duties include:

  • Prepares and process the City of Hinesville’s and the Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission’s bi-weekly payroll. 
  • Reconciles, prepares, and submits for processing tax payments, employee deductions, etc. 
  • Prepares quarterly Federal and State payroll tax reports for City of Hinesville and LCPC.
  • Prepares annual year end payroll reporting for the City of Hinesville and LCPC 
  • Prepares and compiles required payroll reports for Worker’s Compensation Audit.
  • Prepares and processes the City of Hinesville’s and LCPC monthly account receivables. 
  • Serves as back up for the Accountant for QuickBooks accounting activities. 
  • Serves as custodian for City of Hinesville credit cards/purchasing cards.
  • Coordinates the design, coordination of material and public distribution of the City of Hinesville Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).

 

Knowledge required by this position include:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting.
  • Knowledge of general accounting.
  • Knowledge of relevant City ordinances, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of local government purchasing and budgeting practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws and regulations.

 

Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a combination of specialized education and training in the field of work and two to five years’ experience or service.  Minimum starting salary is $41,153.92 plus an excellent benefit package.  This position closes April 7, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Please apply online at:
