The City of Decatur, GA is recruiting for a Senior City Engineer.  The Senior City Engineer is responsible for collaborating with a wide variety of departments on infrastructure projects.  The Senior Engineer will provide project management support and oversight to city-wide capital project planning and implementation.  Projects range from improvements to existing infrastructure, creation of parks and open spaces, land acquisition and development, stormwater and roadway improvements, and pedestrian improvements.  The City is focused on sustainability, multi-modal transportation, and quality of life issues for its diverse residents.

The City of Decatur is the county seat for DeKalb County and is located just six miles from Atlanta.  Despite its urban location, the City has managed to grow with the soul of a small town. 

The City has thriving neighborhoods, a healthy mix of retail and restaurants, a bustling downtown, diverse housing, and an independent award winning school district.  Decatur is a safe, inviting and engaged community.

The City has approximately 250 full time and 200 part time employees across nine departments.  The FY 2023-24 General Fund budget is over $39M and this full-service municipality provides its residents with a full array of services to meet the needs of the community.

The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.  Master’s degree preferred.

 

• Georgia Professional Engineer Certification required at the time of hire – for out of State candidates, a Georgia certification within 6 months of hire.

Target salary is $85,000 to $101,000. This is a subset of the full range for the position band.
