Job Description
The Trades Tech IV class is responsible for overseeing daily activities of subordinate staff and performing highly specialized work in area of specialty. Incumbents may supervise staff.
 
Essential Duties

  • Managing the Traffic Signal and ATMS/ITS On-Demand Contract and overseeing the contractors
  • Inspecting Signal and ATMS related portions of projects 
  • Responsible for training other Traffic Signals Trades Techs 
  • Reviewing and testing technologies 
  • Managing signal locates 
  • Maintaining the traffic signal system including traffic signal and flashing beacons

Public Speaking Duties

  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage with staff, citizens, leadership, and elected officials as needed.

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays. 

Grade
The grade for this position is B313. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
 
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Five years of progressively responsible trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Once CDL obtained, this position will require DOT drug testing and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.
  • IMSA Certification as a Traffic Signal Technician Level 1 and Level 2
  • Work Zone Safety Traffic certification
  • Flagging certification
