POSITION SUMMARY     

The Parks and Rec Ambassador will represent the City of Stonecrest by protecting the cultural and natural resources of the City of Stonecrest Parks and Recreation system.  The Park and Rec Ambassador will educate the public on the park rules and regulations and enforce them when needed, provide information to the public about park features, provide basic visitor services and assistance, and educate the public about the parks system's historical value.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Patrol assigned parks and recreation centers on foot, bicycle or city vehicles
  • Greet visitors and provide general information about the City of Stonecrest parks, recreation and other attractions,
  • Monitors safety and security of park patrons, program participants and recreational facilities;
  • Report maintenance issues or hazardous conditions to Leisure Services administration staff
  • Monitors parks and recreational centers for compliance with city/department rules and regulations, including compliance with park permits 
  • Assists with park programs and special events;
  • Assist with monitoring and managing indoor and outdoor rentals
  • Consults with others on complex problem situations and provides technical expertise;
  • Provides progress and activity reports to senior management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate;
  • Performs related duties as assigned

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED.  Experience in recreation/public works/municipal government environment, preferred.  Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work holidays, weekends and nights.  May work an adjusted schedule for assisting in events occurring after 5:00 p.m. such as meetings, or planned events. Must be able to walk the parks as needed up to 20 miles a day.  Must be able to lift up to 75lbs occasionally, up to 35lbs frequently, as needed.  Must be 18 years of age with reliable transportation.  Must be willing to work during inclement weather as needed.
