The flagship leadership development programs of the ARC (LINK, Regional Leadership Institute, and Model Atlanta Regional Commission) are well-known nationally and serve to engage and mobilize leaders from high school to seasoned professionals to build a stronger region through committed action.
 
The Program Assistant within the Community Development Group’s Leadership Programs Section is part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, team of professionals managing the leadership programs mentioned above (LINK, RLI, and MARC). The work of this team is to provide meaningful opportunities for leaders to grow in their understanding of regional issues and personal leadership skills. This position is responsible for providing critical logistical and programmatic support to the Model Atlanta Regional Commission (MARC) program and minimal support to the LINK and  Regional Leadership Institute. This position will also serve in a supportive role to the full Leadership Programming team.
 
The ideal candidate will be a graduate level individual with skills applicable to leadership development programming, community engagement, communications, and event/program planning. They will understand city/regional planning concepts as well as policies impacting metropolitan areas. This person should have a desire to support a variety of leadership programs and the regional planning and service provision work that comprises the work program of the ARC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists and supports a multidisciplinary, professional staff in the development and execution of the MARC, LINK and RLI leadership programs by providing logistical support including supporting meetings through note taking and scheduling, and assisting with program logistic planning, under the guidance and direction of leadership programs administrator.  
  • Supports curriculum development, logistical planning, and implementation of the Model Atlanta Regional Commission program, which occurs Saturdays once a month between Aug-Jan at various sites around the region. 
  • Develops and drafts content for LINK trip briefing books for participants for the NYC 2024 August LINK trip to a peer region. 
  • Informs metro Atlanta’s top leaders on issues central to the growth and success of the peer regions. 
  • Collaborates with other ARC staff and contacts in the peer regions to create this content and finalize it for final publication. 
  • Compiles speaker, session, program data and assists with the preparation of on-event apps and other materials for LINK and RLI.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Three (3) years of related administrative support or customer service experience.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree or at least completion of one semester of undergraduate work in Public Policy, Planning, or related area of study.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Knowledge of InDesign, graphical design, and visual storytelling;
  • Knowledge of Census data products;
  • Skills in time management;
  • Strong writing skills;
  • Ability to solve problems;
  • Strong analytical and technical skills;
  • Willingness to assess and learn an array of tools as needed;
  • Ability to establish priorities and organize work;
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently with general instructions;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint.
