Located 20 miles from Downtown Atlanta, Roswell is the eighth largest city in Georgia with a population of more than 88,000 people. The City of Roswell operates as a Mayor/Council form of government with a City Administrator.  The Mayor and six Council members are part-time employees. A full-time City Administrator serves at the pleasure of Mayor and Council and is responsible for carrying out their policy directives and managing the day-to-day operations of the City.  City services are carried out through eight departments within the City of Roswell government.  Within these departments are more than 40 divisions and 600 full-time and 300 part-time employees.

The City of Roswell seeks a professional City Administrator who is a passionate leader and can quickly gain the confidence of the community. The right candidate for this position is ethical, dedicated and experienced.  Must possess the ability to build community trust through the development of partnerships with various stakeholders and other government entities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to focus on continuous improvement while guiding the community through challenges. He/she will be expected to articulate a vision of excellence, establish credibility and consistency in delivery of services, and be a creative problem solver with outstanding interpersonal skills.   

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in public administration, business administration or related degree from an accredited university. A master’s degree is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of executive level management experience in local governments of similar size and complexity to the City of Roswell or applicable executive type experience is required.
  • Evidence of continued professional development such as ICMA Credentialed Manager designation, is a positive indicator of dedication to the profession and will be noted during the candidate vetting process.

Compensation & Benefits:

The City of Roswell offers its employees a competitive and comprehensive benefits package which enables it to recruit and retain high-quality employees across the organization. The salary for this position will be established commensurate with experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.  Starting salary is expected to be in the range of $170,000 to $190,000.  Comprehensive benefits package including pension plan, 457b and 401a, health, dental, flexible spending, tuition reimbursement, wellness program, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability and various voluntary benefits.  The city offers a generous leave program/Paid Time Off (PTO) with balance rollover from year to year; paid sick leave with balance rollover from year to year, paid holidays and paid volunteerism and civil engagement leave.  Negotiable relocation expenses.
