Job Summary:

This position performs administrative duties in support of the operations of the County Manager's Office.

Major Duties:

  • Provides administrative support to the County Manager.
  • Prepares, types, and distributes correspondence on behalf of the County Managers; transcribes from dictation equipment.
  • Reviews and composes county documents for multiple departments, including ordinances, resolutions, proclamations, agenda items, memoranda, letters, minutes, etc.
  • Updates information on the county website.
  • Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
  • Maintains office supply inventory and reorders as needed.
  • Schedules meetings for the County Manager; maintains County Manager's calendar.
  • Provides back-up for the County Clerk as needed.
  • Provides administrative support for other county departments.
  • Attends Commission meetings and work sessions.
  • Assists the County Clerk in preparing Commission minutes or prepares minutes in the absence of the Clerk.
  • Attends monthly Development Authority meetings; takes minutes; prepares related correspondence; prepares agenda and meeting packets.
  • Updates the Development Authority website.
  • Maintains files and records for various county departments.
  • Serves as liaison between the County Manager, department heads, county staff, elected and appointed officials, the media, and the general public.
  • Receives, sorts, and distributes mail and packages.
  • Submits receipts, statements, forms, and other account information related to the County Manager's purchasing card.
  • Assists with permitting and licensing functions as needed.
  • Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Business Management, Public Administration or closely related field. 
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of one year in a similar position.

The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug Screenings prior to the start of employment.
