Chatham Emergency Services is accepting applications for the position of Recruit Firefighter. Go to careers.chatham.org for job description and full requirements of the position. The testing process requires successful completion of an online written exam, physical agility test, and oral interview.
Position Responsibilities Overview: While assigned to the Recruit Firefighter Academy and in a training capacity under immediate supervision, the Recruit Firefighter receives academic instruction to develop knowledge and skills to qualify for the position of Firefighter. Upon successful completion of the Academy, recruits are promoted to Firefighter an entry-level fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical response classification.
Written Exam Dates: General aptitude online examination is sent to the candidate via email
Physical Agility Test and Interview: October 18-22, 2021.

Starting salary is $31,620. After successful completion of CES' twenty-week Recruit Firefighter / Emergency Medical Technician Academy and all qualifications, the salary will increase to $34,402. In six months, Firefighters may be eligible for promotion to Advanced Firefighter after completion of all job performance requirements and certifications - rate $37,742.

Motor Vehicle Reports:
DUI/DWI charge with deposition of nolo contender, conviction or plea within the past 3-5 years.
Driver license suspensions within the past 3 years (except for Insurance Cancellation)
Multiple Speeding Tickets within the past 2 years
Multiple accidents within the past 2 years
Reckless Driving within the past 2 years
Vehicular homicide or hit and run charge/arrest
Fleeing or attempting to elude the police charge/arrest
Applicants must undergo an extensive background investigation applicant are finger-printed and in accordance with the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council (GFSTC), applicants for uniformed firefighting positions must not have:
Pending Criminal cases
Convictions, nolo contendere or pleas involving sexual offense or Domestic Violence Act offenses
Felony convictions and nolo contendere or pleas involving felony arrests (within last 10 years)
Multiple misdemeanors within the past 3 years
Serious misdemeanor convictions, nolo contendere, or pleas within the past 3 years
For all non-English speaking candidates, we can assist you per written request. During this time, we will provide a written English comprehension examination that test your ability to read and understand English. Upon successful completion of this exam, we will provide you the written examination and/or resources per written request.
