Position Available: Code Enforcement Officer/P.O.S.T. Certified
The Butts County Commissioners Office is seeking applicants for the position of Code Enforcement Officer-P.O.S.T. Certified.
This is a full-time position that responds to complaints of County code violations and investigates possible infractions, including codes related to building, grading, zoning, erosion control, storm water, business license, liquor licenses, signs, or other health and safety issues: conducts site visits to new and existing properties and businesses, public rights of way and roadways, etc., to determine validity of complaints or to enforce codes.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, receiving and responding to citizen complaints and reports from other agencies and departments concerning alleged violations of state laws, county zoning ordinances, and related codes and ordinances; patrolling the county to identify and evaluate problem areas and/or ordinance violations; determining proper methods to resolve violations; interviewing complainants and witnesses; conducting investigations and providing recommendations for resolution; completing activity reports and preparing evidence in support of legal actions taken by the county; testifies in court as needed. This position will serve as on-site security during meetings and events for the Board of Commissioners.
Minimum qualifications include High School diploma or GED; P.O.S.T. Certification; sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with a similar position for one to two years; excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public; possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.
