This position is responsible for providing city planning support for city operations. Prepares planning documents and maintains repository for all City plans. Produces meeting minutes, progress reports, and performance reports. Stays informed and advises on City zoning actions and potential land use changes. Provides information and services to other city departments and the general community. Researches and prepares reports associated with urban and community planning, comprehensive planning and provides formal written and oral presentations with findings and/or recommendations. Coordinates and prepares annual reports of updates to the Short Term Work Program (STWP) and other planning endeavors. Develops and maintains forecasting and planning models associated with land use and infrastructure projects, analyses demographic, environmental, and economic data. Protects and preserves historical assets in the community while redevelopment plans are being implemented. Assists in planning and reviving low socio-economic areas within the city. Prepares applications and administers Federal and State grants used to advance plan implementation projects; coordinates procurement of professional consultants/contractors. Coordinates, researches, maintains and prepares updates and amendments for various written reports related to planning. Prepares reports and other types of correspondence; prepares and maintains files and records. Performs related duties.

Qualifications

Master’s degree desired. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in planning and zoning related functions. Knowledge in land use planning, grant writing, GIS mapping, zoning, federal and local government, etc. Ability to analyze demographic data and identify trends in employment, residential development, commercial development, health and other areas. Knowledge of city zoning and development regulations. Knowledge of computers and job related software programs. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports. Exceptional communication skills
