This position is responsible for the coordination of occupation tax and business license billing and collections as well as coordinating city elections. Prepares the city’s tax digest. Assists in setting the city’s annual millage rate. Prepares state mandated reports pertaining to taxes and prepares advertisements for public hearings as required. Processes electronic payments for mortgage companies. Issues executions for delinquent taxes, to include processing, advertising and selling delinquent properties. Processes tax refunds. Reviews, maintains and submits proof of claims on bankruptcies. Assists the general public with questions and concerns. Prepares various financial reports. Distributes forms to candidates and elected officials. Maintains reports filed by candidates and elected officials. Receives and determines the qualifications of candidates filing notice for candidacy. Prepares and equips polling places of use in elections. Purchases, preserves, stores and maintains election equipment. Trains and appoints poll officers. Posts the results of elections. Prepares election budget estimates. Performs related duties.  

Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with five years’ experience or service. Knowledge of state and federal election laws. Knowledge of state ethics laws. Knowledge of computers and job related software programs.
