COUNTY CLERK to the Harris County Board of Commissioners. Full-time; provides administrative support to the Board of Commissioners and the County Manager and serves as custodian of official records of the Board, in an office environment with frequent interruptions.  Requirements: Master’s degree preferred, more than five years of related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work; ability to obtain Georgia mandated training for County Clerks within six months of hire or first offer of such training; ability to obtain County Clerk Certification within three years pending the offering of classes/training by ACCG and the University of Georgia; meet state mandates for continuing education and training; possession of or ability to readily obtain Notary Public; possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license.  Job functions include: attend all meetings, the majority of which are after normal business hours, of the Board of Commissioners, the Development Authority, the Planning Commission, the Public Improvements Authority, the Airport Committee and any other committee/authority as required; take minutes at all meetings and ensure accurate transcription of same and maintain files; manage County’s record management system; serve as official custodian of records, contracts, and minutes of the Board; maintain custody of code of ordinances, contracts, agreements, and other official documentation; respond to open records requests as required by law; prepare for meeting agendas and meeting packets; publish public meeting notices; serve as custodian of County seal; prepare documents, attest to signatures and certify records as necessary; prepare resolutions, ordinances, proclamations and other items for presentation to the Board; track items through the legislative process; manage Board Office; perform other administrative duties as required; advise Board of training and make appropriate registration and travel arrangements; ensure compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.  Knowledge of functions and organization of County government, state and local laws and statutes, rules of order, county codes, ordinances and resolutions; standard office procedures, practices and equipment.  Ability and skill in use of computers, associated software, hardware and peripheral equipment; to conduct research and prepare reports; to communicate ideas effectively both orally & in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationship with County officials, associates and general public; and in oral and written communication.  Salary: $51,187  Application can be found at, can be downloaded, completed, and emailed to, or mailed via USPS or delivered to Harris County Commissioners, 104 North College Street, PO Box 365, Hamilton, GA 31811-0365, and will be accepted until position is  filled.
