The City of Tifton is actively searching for the perfect candidate to join our growing and diverse team. Tifton is a small city with continuous growth and a huge dose of southern hospitality, which makes it best known as “The Friendly City”. Tifton is located in South Georgia, along I-75 and has a very long and important role in the history of Georgia. It is the home of several major educational institutions, a regional medical center, and serves as a center of commerce for the region. Both the City of Tifton and Tift County are experiencing growth in both population and commerce as individuals and companies realize the great quality of life that exists in our community.

The Deputy City Manager will be under the general direction of the City Manager. This role will perform highly responsible and complex management and operational duties, as well as undertake a variety of special projects for the City Manager. This position will assist the City Manager with the direction and coordination of the activities of certain operations. They will indirectly supervise assigned departments and provide leadership by promoting effective and efficient operations for the organization through facilitating interdepartmental cooperation and sharing of resources. Along with supporting the City Manager, additionally, this position would provide assistance to City Council and department heads where and when applicable.

The right candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree, however a Master’s degree in Public Administration is preferred. Five (5) to seven (7) years of proven experience in operational government (preferably in county or municipal government) at a level of Director or above.
