The City of Sky Valley is seeking to hire a City Manager. The City of Sky Valley is in Rabun County nestled in the beautiful Northeast Georgia Mountains.
The City Manager will report to the Mayor and five City Council Members. The City Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the government of the city. The City Manager provides direction and leadership for the effective administration and operations of all municipal services as directed by the Mayor and Council.
City services include:

  • Police and public safety,
  • Public Works - water distribution, garbage, recycling collection, roadway/culverts,
  • Building code enforcement,
  • Special Events,
  • Housing and land development /maintenance and,
  • Administrative services.
Responsibilities include: Administration of policies and programs approved by the Mayor and Council, providing leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans, serve as Finance Director while advising the Mayor and Council on financial conditions, developing a proposed annual budget, public relations and disbursement of public information. advise the City Council on the operation of the city government and prepare the agendas for all meetings of the City Council.
Desirable Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of government administration principles and functions of all city departments, possess skill in the presentation of ideas, both oral and written, demonstrate knowledge of successful human resources principles and ability to prepare monthly reports for disbursement to the Mayor, Council and Citizens.
Knowledge of city ordinances, resolutions, and guidelines regarding city organizations and operations.
Qualifications:  Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalate experience. Five plus years of city/county government experience is required. Applicants must have experience with monitoring and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary of the position is negotiable dependent upon experience and qualifications. Benefits include  vacation, sick leave, holidays, health insurance, training opportunities and a retirement plan
