This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance of park and recreation facilities. Plans, coordinates, and acquires materials needed to complete maintenance and repair projects. Inspects park equipment for needed repairs; schedules and completes repairs. Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, and evaluates personnel. Coordinates the maintenance of department vehicles. Schedules the cleaning of facilities. Assists in park and facilities maintenance. Maintains park equipment. Performs minor electrical repairs. Performs minor carpentry and plumbing repairs. Makes repairs to swimming pools and equipment. Prepares meeting rooms; sets up and tears down tables and chairs. Performs related duties.
Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Knowledge of building maintenance principles and practices. Knowledge of park and recreation maintenance principles and practices. Skill in the training and supervision of personnel.

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell. The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, noise, and machinery with moving parts.
