This position is the accounting professional responsible for supporting business processes of the Governmental Training, Education, and Development (GTED) Division. Duties include processing credit card deposits and credit card refunds through the TouchNet system. These deposits are initiated by participants in the Public Service and Outreach (PSO) Registration System for GTED. Duties include processing all invoicing (including SPA and work agreements) for GTED. These are processed through the PSO Registration System by logging check receipts, processing invoices (registrations), and check deposits through TouchNet. This position will also process back-end registrations which will be provided by GTED coordinators. The Senior Accountant will assist clients with PSO Registration login issues. Position will transfer check deposits once per week to the bursar’s office. The Senior Accountant is responsible for posting entries from OneSource, UGAMart and OneUSG Connect into our internal management system, QuickBooks. These duties include entries such as payroll, payment requests, deposits, expense reports, encumbrances and journals. The position will assist when necessary by reconciling financial reports to the departmental sales and services accounts and sponsored project accounts using QuickBooks and OneSource. In so doing, financial decisions will be made to properly classify items for management reports. This position assists in the daily operation of the financial unit to guarantee fiscal resources are appropriately utilized. This position ensures documents are accurate and in compliance with policies and procedures, as well as internal controls. This position monitors training program confirmation tracking logs to ensure payment has been received which is essential in following established internal controls. This position maintains departmental accounting files and records. Position also assists with collections. The position provides back-up for other appropriate unit staff as needed. The senior accountant will possess knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and have an understanding of the various related business processes of the University of Georgia.
