This position is responsible for the intake, processing, and probation supervision of juvenile offenders. Receives calls from law enforcement to make intake decisions on in custody juvenile offenders on an on-call basis and after hours; reviews cases and makes detention decisions, detention arrangements, and coordinates transportation. Receives and examines juvenile traffic tickets, complaints of delinquency and child in need of services for the purpose of considering the commencement of proceedings under the juvenile code of Georgia. Makes appropriate referrals to other private or public agencies in the community if such assistance appears to be needed or desirable. Makes investigations, reports, and recommendations to the court as directed. Attends weekly meetings with intake staff, the Assistant District Attorney, and DJJ representatives to staff cases and prepare recommendations to the court; explains plea options to juveniles and their parents on traffic cases. Attends court hearings and assists in court as needed. Meets with juvenile offenders to discuss probationary or conditional release requirements; counsels juveniles about behavioral issues; remains in contact with juveniles and parents. Supervise and assists a child placed on probation by order of the court or other authority of law with a goal of treatment and rehabilitation. Provides updates to the court on juvenile offender compliance or non-compliance; prepares reports detailing client progress; testifies in court as needed. Coordinates with external organizations and service providers to aid in treatment and rehabilitation efforts. Issues sanctions for violations of supervision/probation conditions. Updates and verifies the data in the Juvenile Court’s case management software. Develops and delivers public education. Prepares grant applications and manages grant funding. Performs other functions and duties designated by the juvenile code or by order/direction of the court.p >
