POSITION TITLE:  Payroll Coordinator FY22-112                                                      

DEPARTMENT:  Finance                                      

ENTRY SALARY$22.97 per hour, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARYThis position coordinates the county’s payroll functions. Receives, reviews, and processes payroll verification sheets. Processes new hires, terminations, promotions, demotions, status changes, transfer requests, and direct deposit agreements. Assists and advises employees on payroll related issues. Receives and processes court-ordered garnishments, levies, and child support payments. Balances employee deductions. Prepares authorizations for accounts payable on employee payroll deductions. Prepares and files federal and state tax payments. Processes direct deposits. Maintains vacation, sick, and military leave accruals. Manages the time management system, Prints payroll checks. Processes W-2s. Compiles data and prepares reports. Trains other employees as payroll backup. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with four to five years experience or service.
