Job Title: Receptionist/Clerk- Recreation
Department: Active Living Division
Locations: Decatur Recreation Center- 231 Sycamore Street. Decatur, GA 30030
Work Hours: Thursday: 12:30-8:30pm, Friday: 12:30-6:30 and Saturday: 8:30-4:00. Approximately 21. hours per week.
Hourly Rate: $12-15 per hour
Purpose of work:
This is responsible secretarial and clerical support work performing word processing and file management Duties. Work involves extensive public contact working knowledge of department procedures, and overall City Operations.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Administrative Assistant and includes the following tasks:
Minimum Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required; specialized training in secretarial science or office management preferred. Prior experience in clerical and secretarial work or in office management preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Must be at least 17 years of age. Must be able to work flexible hours. Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for long periods. Demonstrates working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment. Ability to work with computers and related software applications on a daily basis. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff, the general public and other city officials. Must be able to learn city and departmental policies and procedures. Must be able to perform basic math such as multiplication, addition, and subtraction. Must be able to count money accurately. Ability to complete multiple assignments under deadline conditions in a dynamic office environment. Ability to handle citizens, personnel and the public professionally and politely. Ability to attend additional training as assigned. Work involves extensive public contact. First Aid/CPR Certification preferred
