Accounting Technician Workforce

 

Primary Responsibility:       

The primary duty of the Accounting Technician is to prepare, verify and document    workforce expenditures.  Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Services Director.  Daily activities are supervised by the Program Information System Manager. Major areas of responsibility include purchasing, fixed assets, and participant/vendor payments.

 

Summary of Duties:

  • Responsible for preparation of vendor, participant and staff expense payments and obtaining reviewing and collecting appropriate documentation.
  • Analyzes, allocates and processes all service provider invoices to ensure accuracy, timeliness of payment, and appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains copies of supporting payable documents and reports.
  • Secures price quotes/bids.  Documents competitive price quote/bid process.
  • Maintains fixed assets and inventory control.
  • Maintains records of participant payments and purchases.
  • Prepares reports as needed or requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Represents the agency in a positive, professional way.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrative Service Director or Governmental Services Division Director or WIA Program Manager

 

 

Qualifications and Requirements:              

Completion of two years of education in accounting program, computerized bookkeeping experience; detail oriented; proficient in Excel; MS Word; ability to compose letters and memoranda; knowledge of fund accounting preferred; knowledge and understanding of standard accounting principles and practices. A combination of work experience and education may be used to satisfy these requirements.

 

Other Requirements:              

Pre-employment drug screen; criminal background check; proof of a valid driver’s license; conformity to Three Rivers Regional Commission standards of conduct for employees; professional business appearance and demeanor; appropriate language skills to communicate with a variety of business organizations and people, means and ability to travel throughout a multi-county area and some overnight travel, good work history.  Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings if necessary.  Must be able to lift at least thirty pounds.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with WIA/WIOA programs
