Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, to include lead or supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP or CCP or related certification is strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, or Public Administration.
  • Experience in a public sector human resources environment, preferably local, state, or federal government, specifically in compensation and benefits.

Essential Functions:

Supervises, directs, and evaluates professional, technical, and administrative support staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.

Plans, organizes, and manages daily operations of assigned HR functional area: establishes goals and objectives for functional areas assigned; reviews operational procedures and revises for efficiently and improved service; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and reviews completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; reviews and evaluates statistical data relevant to functional operations; and provides progress and activity reports to management.

Serves as subject matter expert for assigned HR functional area: advises and confers with managers and County administration; interprets policies and participates in policy development; maintains knowledge of regulations governing functional area and ensures compliance; and guides special projects and initiatives within assigned functional area.

Manages compensation and benefits programs including but not limited to, health insurance, dental insurance, disability insurance, worker’s compensation, pension and retirement, compensation and classification, step and grade, leave administration and related functions and programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $82,620.56 - $136,323.92 per year
