Job Summary

The position available is considered a floating position. The primary duties will be supporting Audio/Visual & VOIP needs. In addition to the primary duties this position will also encapsulate the primary duties of the Help Desk Technician.  This position reports directly to the CIO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • First line of support for all A/V & VOIP needs.
  • Video / Audio conference setup and support
  • Investigate faults and recommend further actions to rectify.
  • Telepresence support.
  • General AV Meeting Room Support, AV equipment setup, support and operation.
  • Presentation / multi-media meeting room support, including duration support.
  • Quick response to emergency / ad-hoc requests from the Helpdesk.
  • Gathering and interpretation of technical requirements for events.
  • Ensure event space is safe and hazard free and all cables are secured and tidy.
  • Perform regular room walkthroughs and remediate issues found.
  • Install and maintain audio visual equipment including display devices, projectors, televisions, camera systems, video teleconferencing systems (VTC), microphones and speakers.

  • Perform equipment storage and transportation activities in safe and secure manner.
  • Perform inventory management of equipment, wirings, and accessories.
  • Setup and operate audio visual equipment for trainings, presentations, meetings and conferences.
  • Perform equipment additions, removals, repairs, replacements and inspections.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions
  • Assemble and disassemble audio visual equipment as needed.
  • Test equipment to ensure they are in good and safe working conditions.
  • Prioritize and complete work orders accurately and timely.
  • Provide technical assistance to other Technicians when required.
  • Provides helpdesk support by trouble-shooting and resolving helpdesk tickets or escalating to CIO as appropriate.
  • Installs and/or supports hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. 
  • Performs systems upgrades based on security needs and end user requirements; installs, integrates, customizes, configures and tests new applications and hardware; resolves configuration conflicts and errors.
  • Provides general and in-depth technical guidance and assistance to end users in support of diverse software applications, operating systems and hardware system; maintains a high standard of customer service in dealing with and responding to questions.
  • Monitors computer systems to ensure proper processing of information.  Escalates issues to Tier 2 Support or CIO as appropriate.
  • Performs diagnostic tests on equipment and hardware.
  • Performs data transfers from servers, networks, and vendors. 
  • Shares ‘on-call” responsibilities for system downtime issues requiring onsite visits to County offices (during and after “regular” business hours) to access problems and initiate corrective actions to ensure minimal data loss and maximum uptime.
  • Locates, installs, and terminates network/telecommunications cabling.
  • Travels frequently between various County offices.
  • Researches, analyzes, and recommends appropriate computer hardware to support the County’s expanding technology needs.
