This position is responsible for advocating for the rights of victims and witnesses of crimes. Makes initial contact with victims and/or their families following crimes; provides information regarding the Victims Bill of Rights and the status of the case; gathers information and answers questions; provides continual support to victims and witnesses throughout the process. Maintains case files. Provides notifications to victims and witnesses regarding court hearing dates; coordinates transportation as needed; escorts victims and witnesses to court; prepares victims and witness for court appearances. Runs criminal histories. Serves as liaison between victims, witnesses, the District Attorney’s Office, and prosecutors. Assists victims with completing Victim Impact Statements, Temporary Protective Order applications, Victim Compensation forms, etc. Coordinates services with other agencies or provides referrals. Updates Computerized Criminal Histories on defendants. Gathers information to prepare statistical reports. Performs related duties.p >
