Spalding County Water and Sewerage Facilities Authority (SCWSFA) is a public corporation committed to delivering superior services to a vibrantly connected community. The SCWSFA is responsible for operating and maintaining four (4) elevated water tanks and approximately 516 miles of water mains.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in scientific/engineering principles; general knowledge of water and wastewater construction means and methods; and general knowledge of hydraulics. The candidate must also be capable of working effectively in both independent and group settings, working effectively in both office and field settings, possess critical thinking skills, and effective communication (both written and verbal). 

The Engineer position is responsible for multiple aspects of the review process within the SCWSFA department. Primary responsibilities include: review of development plans for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to water and sewer; communicates plan review matters with design professionals and internal staff; provide technical assistance to other County staff, outside contractors, and the general public regarding engineering issues; review of various reports, zoning conditions, recorded plats, GIS maps, and easements related to development projects; research, investigation, and evaluation of complaints and inquiries received by the public or management regarding water and sewer issues; maintain records associated with plan review.
 
The Engineer III and IV roles will perform multiple aspects of the review process, requiring more experience and skill in evaluating engineering plans and maps as well as supporting larger, more complex projects. The Engineer IV may supervise staff, assist in budget preparation, and perform other miscellaneous duties of a similar nature.

Minimum Qualifications for Engineer II

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • One year of related experience.
  • EIT certification preferred.

Minimum Qualifications for Engineer III

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
  • EIT certification required.

Minimum Qualifications for Engineer IV

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Four years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer License required.
