Pickens County is seeking a full-time Building Inspector. 

Pickens County offers a complete benefits package to full-time employees including: Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. Salary: is commensurate upon certificates and experience. 

This positon is responsible for conducting building inspecitons to ensure complicnae with codes and ordinances.

Major Duties

  • Interprets, applies and enforces the provisions of standard building codes, electrical codes, plumbing codes, and mechanical codes.
  • Conducts site inspections of residential buildings for compliance with applicable codes.
  • Inspects mobile homes for compliance with codes.
  • Discusses code violations with builders and home owners; identifies solutions to code violations.
  • Responds to code related questions.
  • Conducts follow-up inspections.
  • Prepares and maintains records of inspections; enters inspection data into computer.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable codes and changes to codes.
  • The ability to operate in a constant state of alertness, and safe manner.
  • Performs related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Must hold B1 Certification for Residential Building Inspector.
  • Must have level 1A Blue Card issued by GASWCC or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position,usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain the appropriate state certification for the type of inspection(s) conducted.
