The City of College Park, GA is searching for a Chief Building Official to manage the permitting, building plan review and inspections functions.  

The City of College Park covers over 12 square miles with a population of 14,000 as of the 2020 census. The City's general fund budget in 2022 is $30M and all funds top out at over $131M. The City of College Park is located in Metro Atlanta adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. 

The Chief Building Official is responsible for overseeing the city's responsibilities for permitting and inspections related to all elements of vertical building construction as regulated by the International Building Code and other building codes adopted by the City of College Park. The City has adopted the following codes and any updates to these codes promulgated from time to time by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs: International Building Code National Electric Code International Fuel Gas Code International Mechanical Code International Plumbing Code International Energy Conservation Code International Residential Code The Department is also responsible for nuisance abatement and staffing the Construction Board of Appeals in cases where there is a dispute related to the interpretation of the building codes between the City and a permit holder.

The Chief Building Official is part of the leadership team of the City and works directly for the City Manager.  The Chief Building Official supervises both a Building Inspector and a Permit Coordinator. In 2021, the City issued over 1,100 permits for residential and commercial construction.  The vast majority of the permits are for residential renovations and improvements.
