?? Competitive New Pay Structure

  • Firefighter/Paramedic starting pay increased to $21.50 per hour
  • Equivalent annual compensation of $64,994.50

This increase establishes Gilmer County as a highly competitive employer among fire and emergency service agencies throughout the Appalachian area.

  • 3:3:3 retirement plan, county will match up to 3% of the employee's contribution at a full dollar for dollar and will also contribute 3% regardless of contribution.

General Nature of Work

The purpose of this position is to perform Fire Department and EMS emergency and non-emergency operations during assigned shifts; engages in emergency scene activities including defense/exterior basic firefighting tasks and emergency medical care; and performs a variety of staff support functions, and other related work as assigned.
