JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting personnel within the Community Development Department with implementation of functions of department, including code interpretation for enforcement inquiries, land development, building permitting, business licensing, planning, zoning, GIS, stormwater compliance, and floodplain management. The position reports to the Community Development Director or designee, is substantive and professional but also responsible for administrative responsibilities and tasks customarily required of all employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a bachelor’s or associate’s degree. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Master’s degree and work-related experience a plus.
Possession of a valid State of Georgia driver's license (Class C) and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in compliance with County Safety and Loss Control Guidelines. Completion of the State of Georgia Department of Transportation Defensive Driving Course.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is sedentary work. The employee is occasionally required to exert a light amount of force. Work is typically performed with the employee sitting at a desk. This position occasionally requires time out in the field, which may require balancing, climbing, or stooping.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects. The work is performed in an office and outdoors, where the employee may be exposed to cold or inclement weather.
