Payroll / Human Resources Manager – Job Description
The Lamar County Board of Commissioners is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Payroll / Human Resources Manager. This position ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, managing employee records, and upholding HR policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintains and updates employee records, including new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment, and personnel files. Provides guidance to employees regarding payroll, benefits, and human resources policies. Assists with recruitment, and employee orientation processes. Monitors and ensures compliance with employment laws and county policies. Supports departments in employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions. Generates reports and analyzes payroll data as needed. Handles confidential information with the utmost integrity and discretion. Assists with benefits administration, including open enrollment and coordination with benefit providers. Performs other duties as assigned by the County Administrator.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in human resources, or a related field or 2+ years of experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll. Understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and HR best practices. Ability to learn payroll and HR software (e.g., Incode). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently.
