The City of Dawson is seeking a skilled and results-driven Public Works Director to lead the City’s Public Works Department, overseeing operations in streets, water, natural gas, and facility maintenance. This department head position is critical to the planning, coordination, and delivery of essential city infrastructure services. The Director will supervise department personnel, manage budgets and capital improvement plans, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and coordinate with engineers, contractors, and utility providers to meet the needs of the community.
The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems, a strong background in public works or utility operations, and proven leadership capabilities.
Minimum qualifications include:
· High school diploma or GED required (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
· At least 5 years of experience in public works or utility operations, with 2 years in a supervisory role.
· Valid Georgia Driver’s License (CDL preferred).
· Experience in budgeting, regulatory compliance, emergency response coordination, and customer service.
