The Deputy Director of Leisure Services assists the department director in strategic planning, organizing, and managing a comprehensive program of public recreation, leisure, events, programs, sports and public services. This role involves oversight of daily operations, supervision of staff, development and implementation of departmental goals, data collection, budget management, grant and funding source management, evaluation of service delivery, project management and facilitation of policies. Work involves administering, evaluating, and supervising a comprehensive public leisure services plan, and ensuring the delivery of broad-based community services.
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Parks Management, Public Administration, or closely related field; supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the direction and administration of parks and recreation programs, to include staff supervision and public interaction; or any equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and experience
which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Professional certification in parks, recreation, or leisure services management is an asset for this role. Must be able to complete training to supervise minimum-security inmates. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Drivers License.
