What You'll Do

Financial Strategy & Oversight: Proactively manage and provide strategic guidance on the City's financial health, including debt, investments, and internal controls, ensuring secure and transparent operations.

Budget & Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation, adoption, and oversight of the annual budget and Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR). Oversee all accounting functions, including fiscal year-end close and audit process, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to external agencies and the City Council.

Leadership & Management: Provide leadership, direction to department personnel, and oversight for budgeting, accounting, treasury and revenue management, stormwater utility billing, payroll, purchasing, and overall financial administration.

Collaboration & Communication: Present financial updates to the City Council and city leadership, collaborate on cross-departmental initiatives, and contribute to the 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan.

Skills You'll Need

• Expert knowledge of government accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial administration principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis.
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) to convey complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences, including elected officials and the public.
• Proven analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, assess risks, and offer accurate, strategic recommendations.
• Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
• A proactive and resourceful approach to managing challenges, prioritizing tasks, and adapting to the demands of a fast-paced municipal environment.

What You Bring/Your Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related fields.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience managing governmental accounting and/or finance programs with at least three (3) years in a senior-level role.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related fields. (preferred)
• Local government senior finance management experience. (preferred)
