Summary

DEPARTMENT:      Public Defender

ENTRY SALARY:   $21.21 per hour, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY:    This position is responsible for providing administrative support for office operations. Opens and closes case files. Scans and enters documents to JCAT database. Answers telephone; provides information and assistance; takes messages and schedules appointments; refers to appropriate personnel. Provides assistance to clients as needed. Makes appointments for clients to meet with attorneys. Reviews applications to determine eligibility. Prints warrants and incident reports. Maintains files and records. Opens juvenile cases. Creates calendars, spreadsheets, and appointment lists. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
