Job Description
As Gwinnett’s diverse population continues to grow, we need to attract and support redevelopment and new development that builds connected communities, creates job opportunities, and promotes housing affordability.  The Development Projects Manager will help guide large-scale and strategically important development projects through the zoning, plan review, permitting, and inspections process.  This position will work in the Director’s Office and coordinate with team members across all nine divisions of Planning and Development and other departments to ensure assigned projects are successful.  The position will also interface directly with developers, design professionals, contractors, and residents on a regular basis to get status updates on projects and help resolve issues that may arise.  This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring that Gwinnett is a sustainable, inclusive, and connected community that is a highly desirable place to live, work and do business.

Essential Duties
  • Track major economic development and sensitive projects and escalate issues as they arise to ensure they are promptly addressed
  • Meet regularly with assigned case managers to discuss project status
  • Review suggestions, concerns, and complaints received through other departments, the County Administrator’s Office, and the Board of Commissioners and work with appropriate division staff to ensure prompt follow-up and resolution
  • Draft and send status reports, updates, and emails related to ongoing projects or specific issues
  • Review department data and prepare summary reports
  • Conduct policy research and analysis and make recommendations on potential policy changes
  • Develop reports, presentations, ordinance amendments, requests for proposals, and other documents as requested
  • Manage special projects as assigned
Public Speaking Duties
  • Leading internal and external meetings
Grade
The grade for this position is 104. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
 
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Planning, or related field AND
  • Three years of related experience
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
