Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

 

Located in the heart of Georgia, Butts County is a vibrant and growing community committed to excellence in public service.  We are seeking a strategic, results-driven, and innovative leader to serve as our next Chief Financial Officer. 

The Chief Financial Officer plays a critical role in directing the County's financial strategies and operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, accounting, accounts payable, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develops and implements financial strategies aligned with County goals. Oversees budget preparation, capital requests, and investment of County funds. Manages accounting systems, payroll withholdings, accounts payable, and audits. Prepares accurate financial reports and forecasts, and supervision of the finance team. Ensures risk mitigation and compliance with financial laws and policies. Frequent interaction with department heads, elected officials, and external stakeholders. 

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field. 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in government finance or a related field. Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and public sector financial management. Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, and execute high-level financial strategies. Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. CPA designation or Master's degree preferred.
