DEPARTMENT: Public Works - Natural Gas Division

 

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time

 

SALARY: $67,483.47 (Certifications and Experience will be considered)

 

JOB SUMMARY: First level supervisor responsible for planning and directing employees engaged in the operation, construction, maintenance, workload planning, dispatch and repair of the gas distribution system. Coordinates operations activities with other areas. Identifies and effectuates changes necessary to ensure continuous improvement in gas distribution performance.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Responsible for planning, construction, maintenance, repair, and/or operation of gas systems; coordinates construction and maintenance activities with other areas.
  • Supervises a group of technical crews in daily activities; ensures compliance with Operator Qualification, and Codes & Standards requirements.
  • Plans, schedules, monitors, dispatches and controls work resources.
  • Utilizes management tools to plan, execute and follow through on operations and improvements.
  • Administers safety programs and ensures safety standards are compiled within all work activities.
  • Ensures continuous station productivity improvements through increased quality field time with crews; ensures that work crew productivity levels are maintained.
  • Performs or ensures the accomplishment of the following core supervisory/management functions for a given group(s) within a business unit: planning, organizing, directing the performance of ongoing activities and/or special / ad hoc assignments, staffing (employee selection, training/coaching & performance management, time entry), coordinating, reporting & budgeting.

 

 MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years of experience in Operations, OR;
  • Associate’s degree and 4 years of experience in Operations, OR;
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in Operations

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical Field.
  • Operations experience in Natural Gas or Utility industry.
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations

 

Other Requirements

Ability to travel & report for work at different locations; Must possess a valid driver’s (or ‘equipment- appropriate’) license, including any organization-determined certifications or endorsements. Must comply with any relevant organization driving / operating standards, and pass Department of Transportation drug screens; subject to random drug testing.

 

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves sustained keyboard operations.
