Salary: $60,477.60
Location: City of Commerce, Georgia

The City of Commerce is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Planning & Development Specialist to support the daily operations of our Planning & Development Department. This is a professional and technical position working under the direction of the Planning, Building, and Zoning Superintendent, assisting with planning reviews, zoning enforcement, permitting, and community development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with day-to-day departmental operations
• Review development applications (plats, permits, site plans, variances, rezonings)
• Interpret and apply zoning ordinances and planning regulations
• Conduct field inspections for compliance
• Support long-range city planning and economic development projects
• Serve as secretary to the Planning & Zoning Commission, attend public meetings
• Coordinate annexation processes and assist with zoning certifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, or related field OR 5 years of planning/zoning experience OR equivalent combination
• Strong knowledge of land use, zoning, and development regulations
• AICP certification is preferred, but not required
• Valid Georgia driver’s license
