 Job Summary:

This position is responsible for parks and grounds maintenance including landscaping and custodial duties.

Major Duties:

·         Performs turf maintenance activities at soccer, football, baseball, and softball fields; pulverizes and smooths baseball infields; aerates fields; applies herbicides and pesticides as needed. 

·         Performs landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, weed-eating, and operating field sprinkler system. 

·         Maintains scoreboards. 

·         Maintains ball fields by cutting grass, applying lines to fields, and picking up trash. 

·         Maintains the grounds at county facilities by cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, and edging lawns. 

·         Performs all custodial duties assigned including but not limited to cleaning locker rooms, vacuuming floors, cleaning of ball field restrooms. 

·         Performs routine maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, including checking fluid levels, replacing blades, and performing minor repairs. 

·         Replaces light bulbs in department offices and at ball fields and tennis courts. 

·         Performs plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work as needed. 

·         Removes trash from parks. 

·         May operate concession stand as needed. 

·         Completes special assignments off campus as instructed by supervisor. 

·         Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

·         Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. 

·         Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

 The successful candidate must complete a Background/Reference Check and Pre-Employment Drug Screening prior to the start of employment.
