Summary

POSITION TITLE:  Parks Maintenance Supervisor FY26-49

DEPARTMENT:      Parks and Recreation

ENTRY SALARY:   $25.85 per hour, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY:    This position supervises the maintenance of county parks and recreation facilities.
Coordinates, prioritizes, and supervises parks maintenance activities. Supervises and participates in landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming weeds, trimming trees and shrubs, and removing leaves; applies pesticide and fertilizer; installs flower beds with mulch/rock. Supervises and participates in sports field maintenance activities. Supervises and participates in the repair and maintenance of department buildings, facilities, and structures (i.e. fountain, Splash Park, etc.). Performs carpentry duties; repairs interior and exterior lighting; repairs fences; cleans and repairs public restrooms. Inspects the safety of playground equipment; supervises and participates in playground installation and repairs. Implements water management programs at each location. Assists with special events, tournaments, and programs. Operates variety of equipment, including hand and power tools, heavy equipment (i.e. excavator, skid steer, etc.) and transport vehicles (i.e. landscape truck, trailers, dump truck, etc.) Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of vehicles, tools, and equipment. Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel. Coordinates and oversees the work of contractors. Repairs irrigation systems. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
