Forsyth County’s Capital Projects Department is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Transportation) to lead large-scale transportation infrastructure projects from concept to completion. This role oversees complex roadway and capital improvement projects that enhance safety, mobility, and quality of life throughout Forsyth County.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end transportation infrastructure projects, from planning through construction

  • Serve as a procurement liaison by preparing bid documents and managing contractor selection

  • Oversee roadway design and ensure regulatory and environmental compliance

  • Administer contracts, budgets, schedules, and invoices, including change orders and risk management

  • Coordinate across departments, consultants, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders

  • Provide subject matter expertise in project management and transportation construction

  • Review engineering design submittals and perform quality assurance/quality control checks

  • Lead capital improvement program (CIP) activities including project scope, cost estimates, land acquisition, permitting, and bid preparation

  • Monitor project schedules, contractor performance, and compliance with specifications and standards

  • Offer expert consultation to internal teams, consultants, and contractors on project management procedures and standards


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field

  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in construction management and inspection

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Georgia required

  • Proven experience managing transportation construction projects, including roadway and infrastructure work
