The City of Barnesville, GA is seeking an experienced professional city manager.
Barnesville is located approximately 55 miles south of Atlanta and 40 miles north of Macon, GA. Barnesville was established in 1831 and has a current population of 6,297. It is the home of Gordon State College which is a four year institution with a current enrollment of 3,100+.
Barnesville is seeking a highly qualified, professional, innovative and visionary city manager to successfully manage the City's future growth, while at the same time protecting its hometown character through proven growth management policies.
The successful candidate must have a proven record of successfully leading city departments, department heads and personnel with proven proactive leadership and mangement, developing annual city budgets, monitoring city revenues and expenditures, and keeping the elected body and the public informed of the City's financial position.
The successful candidate needs to have experience in managing a municipal electric distribution system.
The City will require candidates to have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Politcal Science, Business Management, or a closely related field. A Masters Degree in Public Administration is preferred, with a minimum of 4 years experience as an assistant city manager or city manager. added consideration will be given to candidates who are full members of ICMA.
Salary to be determined by successful candidate's experience and qualifications. The City has excellent employee benefits.
